ZLA is one of twenty two Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) within VATUSA. Geographically, ZLA covers portions of four states: California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. Within the borders of the ARTCC include three civilian Bravo airports, four civilian Charlie airports, thirty civilian Delta airports, and numerous uncontrolled airports. All of this adds up to provide over one hundred workable ATC positions ranging from general aviation hotspots all the way to major approach and enroute sectors.
Due to the popularity of the airports within the airspace, ZLA is fortunate enough to boast some of the highest traffic levels on the network. Training here requires a strong commitment from student controllers, and anyone looking to control here should be prepared for the challenge of dealing with complex airspace and high traffic levels. Our controllers are amongst the best in VATUSA, and we firmly believe that learning and controlling here at ZLA is a fun and rewarding experience.
